Job Postings
- Online job postings have historically trended higher in Nova Scotia during the spring and summer months. This was disrupted in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this seasonal trend has returned in 2022 and 2023.
- During the three-year period from July 2019 to June 2022, the highest number of online job postings was in March 2022 (10,718 postings) and the least was seen in April 2020 (2,460 postings).
- In 2020, average monthly job postings declined to 4,320 due to the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- In 2021, the average monthly online job postings were 6,688 and rose to 8,671 in 2022.

Job Postings by Occupation
- The overall number of new jobs posted online increased by 29.6% in 2022 compared to 2021.
- Online job postings increased in all occupational categories except in health occupations, where they decreased by 13.8%, and in natural resources, agriculture, and related production occupations, where they decreased by 0.8%.
- Sales and services occupations had the highest increase, at 50.6%.
- Occupations in education, law, and social, community, and government services posted the lowest increase, at 10.4%.
Usually, occupations with higher job vacancy rates, high turnover, and/or requirements for scarce qualifications may show high levels of online job postings compared to others.
